How This Trade Impacts Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors have a few clear needs on their roster when it comes to size in the frontcourt and depth in the backcourt. They can address both of those needs in this hypothetical trade with the Indiana Pacers.
Myles Turner is the perfect fit for the game plan that Nick Nurse has developed. On offense, their success is partly predicated on whoever is playing the center position to be a willing 3-point shooter.
Turner is not only willing but able, as he is one of the better stretch-fives in the NBA with the potential to do more than just spot-up around the perimeter.
Defensively, Turner is an elite rim protector and one of the best defensive centers in the NBA. He would provide Toronto with the size they are desperately seeking as well. T.J. McConnell also fills a sizable need.

There is little depth behind Fred VanVleet at the point guard position. Scottie Barnes Jr. has shown that he is a more than capable playmaker, but having a capable backup behind VanVleet is something that Toronto is currently lacking. McConnell is an excellent playmaker and stout defender at the position as well.
Trading OG Anunoby could be a risk, but balancing out the lineup is something that could actually lead to more success for Toronto. Players will be back in their natural positions after this move as Pascal Siakam can settle in at power forward and Barnes will play small forward.

Getting a first-round pick back also sweetens the deal. While it will more than likely be outside of the lottery, it still has value. Having another first-round pick will strengthen trade packages that the Raptors can put together.
