Like the Thunder, the Pelicans have done a good job of collecting a large amount of draft capital. While their collection doesn’t rival the Thunder’s historic amount, it’s one of the best in the NBA.
With that said, it’s easier to picture the Pelicans cashing it in. After all, they’re obviously looking to win sooner than later. They would not have acquired CJ McCollum at last year’s trade deadline otherwise.
Gilgeous-Alexander could be the missing piece here. No, he’s not a pure point guard, but he can still run point. Gilgeous-Alexander has solid floor vision, but he’s one of the league’s best drivers.
Between him, Williamson and Ingram, the Pelicans would be putting constant pressure on the rim.
