Why The Detroit Pistons Do The Deal 

This would not be a characteristic move for a rebuilding club. With that said, that doesn’t automatically mean it’s a bad one, either. 

On paper, Bogdanovic’s fit here is nice. Realistically, his fit anywhere is nice. Low usage, high-efficiency floor spacers have a way of complementing the players around them. 

Still, Bogdanovic could be particularly useful for the Pistons. Cunningham and Ivey both have limitless upside, but questions continue to persist about both of their jump shots. Surrounding the two ball-dominant stars with floor spacing should allow each to play as well as possible in 2022-23. 

Perhaps some Pistons fans would prefer to remain in the Victor Wembenyama sweepstakes. At the same time, it may be too late. The Pistons only finished with 23 wins last season, but a quality draft plus the addition of veterans like Noel, Burks, and Walker should add about 7 wins to the ledger.

If they’re going that far, why not go a little further?  The Pistons won’t be contending next season, but maybe they could be done rebuilding.
