Why The Phoenix Suns Do The Deal
Finally, this may not be a no-brainer for Phoenix either. Can you tell how confident we are in this proposal?
The Suns get deeper here, but it’s not necessarily clear how that depth will function. They say a contending team can’t have too many wings in 2022, but the Suns would be pushing that theory to its limit. Between Bogdanovic, Mikal Bridges, Jae Crowder, and Cam Johnson, they’d surely be stacked.
That feels like an issue that’s worth creating, even if it has to be resolved. All of those players are multi-positional, and a little internal competition can be healthy. All told, having the deepest collection of the most coveted position in the league sounds like a rich team’s problem, to say the least.
Meanwhile, the Suns manage to extend their wing depth while replacing Paul. Granted, Conley is not quite on Paul’s level – throughout their careers, he never has been.

Still, he brings a similar offensive skillset to the table, and he’s three years younger and less of an injury risk. Following this deal, the Suns’ pecking order may get lighter on the top, but it gets deeper in the process.
