When life doesn’t go as planned, it stings. It’s always easier to prepare for a disappointment that you were braced for. In the NBA, you don’t have to tell that to New York Knicks fans.

After all, they’ve had their share of disappointments over the years. Who could forget how certain their fanbase was that Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving were about the don to the orange-and-blue? 

It never happened. Meanwhile, this summer brought its own disappointment. The Knicks, by all accounts, were supposed to trade for Donovan Mitchell.

Now, he’ll be suiting up for the Cleveland Cavaliers instead. Once again, the Knicks fell short of their own expectations.

With that said, perhaps they could swing a trade for another star off-guard in 2022-23. Meanwhile, if he was a few years younger than Mitchell, negotiating that trade might be a little easier.
