Why The Milwaukee Bucks Do The Deal 

In all this discussion of floor spacing, it’s worth noting that Giannis Antetokoumnpo needs to be surrounded by it as much as any star in the NBA. After all, he does everything but shoot at an elite level. 

Luckily, the Bucks already have that covered. 

This team is stacked with shooters. On the other hand, what they don’t have is a dynamic sixth man. During stretches where all of Antetokoumnpo,  Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday are resting, this team tends to flounder. 

Clarkson would alleviate that issue. He can co-exist with the starters, but carrying the second unit would be his main responsibility. With him in the fold, the Bucks could afford to stagger their three star players less regularly.

Perhaps there is some value in leaving one of your most talented players on the bench. Of course, Clarkson already knows that: in spite of his talent, he’s been accepting that role for years.
