If you’re looking for an example of a talented starting lineup that didn’t work well together, look no further than the Los Angeles Lakers.
In 2021-22, this team had two former MVPs in LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, not to mention Anthony Davis. Yet, the poor fit between the three resulted in a 34-win season.
One wonders how they may have fared with a better floor spacer at the point guard position, and Westbrook functioning as a sixth man. His game may be in decline, but surely he could still carry a second unit.
Unfortunately, it feels like pride would preclude him from ever accepting such a role.

On the other hand, he won’t get it in Utah either. In fact, he’s unlikely to receive much of any role if he lands in Salt Lake City. It may be shocking, but it’s fair to say that Westbrook’s entire career is now in jeopardy.
