Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
In all seriousness, you know exactly what the Jazz are doing here.
They’re landing two first-round picks. There’s no questioning Utah’s motive in this exchange. The only question is whether they’re getting enough value for their veterans.
Recently, rumors have suggested that they think they ought to receive a first-round pick for each of the veterans here. We think that’s slightly optimistic. Bogdanovic is likely to command a first-rounder, but otherwise, it’s not clear what the Jazz can get for their pair of veteran guards.
After all, Conley is old and undersized. At this point, he’s a defensive liability. Meanwhile, Clarkson is no star on that end either, and he’s prone to bouts of extreme shooting inefficiency as well. All things considered, two first-round picks are a solid return for what they’re giving up.
