How This Trade Impacts Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets don’t have much use for an older player such as Eric Gordon, who is 33, as they are in the midst of a rebuild. However, they do have big plans for him, so they aren’t going to just give him away.
Having some veterans around is good for the development of young players. They can show them the ropes of how to be NBA players, providing leadership and guidance. There is value in that and if they play well, the Rockets could flip them again for more assets ahead of the trade deadline.
Lopez, when healthy, is one of the better stretch-5s in the NBA. He is also a much-improved defender and would certainly help a contending team in the postseason.
Hill is on his last legs at 36 years old but could be best suited as a mentor on a young team. A contending team would likely only acquire him as emergency depth for a postseason run.
