Dallas Mavericks Receive: F Bojan Bogdanovic 

Utah Jazz Receive: F Davis Bertans, 2025 First-Round Pick (DAL) 

Why fix what isn’t broken? 

Once again, we’ve got the Jazz moving Bogdanovic for a first-round pick. Of course, this time, they’ve got to take on a fairly gruesome contract in exchange. Davis Bertans, by any standard, is overpaid. 

It just shouldn’t matter to the Jazz. This team is rebuilding. Absorbing bad contracts with sweeteners attached is par for the course. All told, the Jazz’ timeline back towards contention is overwhelmingly likely to extend past Bertans’ deal. 

As for the Dallas Mavericks, they’re landing a perfect complementary player for superstar Luka Doncic. Bogdanovic will space the floor for him when he has the ball, but he can also create his own shot when called upon to.

That’s perfect for these Mavericks. They have a handful of starting caliber bigs, and a solid guard rotation, but they’re light on wings. Upgrading their rotation in that area is a good decision – whether it’s a wing’s league or not.
