Why The Philadelphia 76ers Do The Deal
If there’s any reason to oppose this deal, it’s positional redundancy. The Sixers already acquired P.J. Tucker and Danuel House this summer – how many 3-and-D wings do they need?
Trick question. The answer is “as many as possible”. There is no such thing as too many 3-and-D wings for an NBA contender in 2022.
That holds especially true for this Sixers team. Joel Embiid’s presence allows for some flexible roster building. As an elite rim protector, he avails the Sixers of needing to go out and get a specialist in that area. In turn, that leaves more room for specialist wings.
More importantly, Crowder may instantly be the best one on the roster. He’s always been a more impactful player than House Jr, and with Tucker’s advanced age, it would be optimal to have someone lighten his load. Sure, the Sixers have Tobias Harris as well, and he’s the best offensive player of this bunch.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Jae Crowder, Phoenix Suns & Philadelphia 76ers Updates
That’s a rich team’s complaint. The Sixers can make this work, and if someone ends up squeezed out of the rotation, they can trade them before the deadline. As a general rule, adding Jae Crowder to your rotation is a good decision if you’re playing for the NBA championship.
