The road to an NBA championship is a long and winding one. All 30 of the league’s teams would eventually like to taste victory, and that’s exactly what makes it so challenging to do so.

The field is stacked. Some would argue that the NBA is more talented than ever. With that historic talent comes historic obstacles – the league’s best teams may be better than ever.

Just ask the Phoenix Suns. They made the NBA Finals in 2020-21 and won 64 games in 2021-22, only to be eliminated in the Western Conference Semifinals. This team is remarkably strong, but they still won’t enter 2022-23 as championship favourites.

For that matter, neither will the Philadelphia 76ers. That’s particularly astounding in light of their star-studded roster. They have last year’s MVP runner-up in Joel Embiid, a former MVP in James Harden, and an emerging star in Tyrese Maxey. Yet, somehow, a handful of teams are likely to stand in their way.
