With all that said, sometimes NBA players aren’t given the option to quit. Unfortunately, in time, their body will quit for them. 

This deal features two perennial All-Stars in Russell Westbrook and Kyle Lowry. With that said, both of their days as perennial All-Stars are likely numbered. 

Westbrook still posts All-Star level basic counting stats. With that said, the last couple of years of his career have been a referendum on the value of basic counting stats. Westbrook can still get a triple-double, but by now, nobody cares unless his team gets a victory. 

On the other hand, Kyle Lowry has always been a player whose value goes beyond those stats. At the same time, he produced so little in the 2021-22 playoffs that no amount of drawn charges could compensate.
