Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

Realistically, that’s a difficult question to answer. 

Firstly, it depends on Irving’s mindset. After all, much of the speculation surrounding the Nets this year was due to his frequent absences from the team. If the Lakers are landing a part-time player here, they might be better off dealing with the Jazz directly. 

On the other hand, an engaged, focused Kyrie Irving sure gives the Lakers a higher ceiling. With no disrespect intended to Conley or Bogdanovic, Irving is by far the most impactful player changing teams in this deal. 

Moreover, we’ve seen him alongside LeBron James before. It worked on the court, as their Cavaliers won an NBA title. Still, and perhaps more importantly, it seemed to work off the court as well.
