4. Monte Morris, Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards came into the offseason with zero point guards having a guaranteed contract for the upcoming season. To alleviate that, they made a trade with the Denver Nuggets, landing Monte Morris and Will Barton in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith.
Morris stepped up last season for Denver as he was inserted into the starting lineup in place of Jamal Murray, who was recovering from ACL surgery. He continued playing well, carrying over the steady play he had with the second unit into the starting group.
As the only true point guard on the roster, as his backup right now is Delon Wright, Monte Morris is in a position to improve upon the career numbers that he had last season. Heading into his age-27 season, a breakout could be on the horizon.
He will be the lead playmaker in Washington, unlike in Denver where the offense ran through back-to-back MVP Nikol Jokic. Tomas Satoransky was racking up assists at a high rate down the stretch of the last season and that was without Bradley Beal being in the lineup.

Surrounded by former All-Stars in Beal and Kristaps Porzingis and shooters all over the court, Monte Morris should easily surpass his career-high in assists from last season. An efficient shooter, it would not be surprising to see Morris push into the mid-teens for points per game as well with a higher usage rate.
In a larger role with the Washington Wizards, 16 points and six assists per game is certainly attainable. If Beal struggles to stay on the court again, his usage rate will only get higher.
