The Boston Celtics already created plenty of buzz on the rumor circuit this summer. They reportedly offered the Brooklyn Nets a package centered around Jaylen Brown and draft capital for Kevin Durant. Obviously, the deal didn’t go through.
Could they get in on the discussions around the next-biggest available star? Even better – could they do so without involving Brown in negotiations?
In all likelihood, it depends on the Jazz’s assessment of Robert Williams III. After all, this package doesn’t net them the type of draft capital that a deal with, say, the New York Knick would.
Still, it does land them a 24-year-old that some would suggest has Defensive Player of the Year potential.

The 23-year-old Grant Williams is no slouch on the end of the floor either. In fact, he’s a prototypical, modern 3-and-D forward. If the Jazz have any interest in proven young players, this deal would have to intrigue them.
Finally, the Celtics would have to be interested in it too. Defensively, they’d miss Williams, but a trio of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Donovan Mitchell would be, arguably, the most talented young offensive trio in the NBA.
