Why The Atlanta Hawks Do The Deal
Jaylen Brown is not a cure-all for the awkward dynamic we’ve just outlined. Still, he could mitigate its negative effects.
After all, Brown is a strong offensive player both on and off the ball. If the Hawks choose to stagger Young and Murray, Brown can be an impactful co-star for either. That alone should help the Hawks get the most out of both of their star point guards.
Furthermore, the extra defensive attention Brown will attract when all three are on the floor will open up space for Murray.
Defenses might dare him to shoot, but at the same time, Murray isn’t actually such a poor shooter that he won’t accept those dares. He can probably hit wide-open threes with reasonable efficiency.

Would the Celtics still be such a team following this deal?
