Miami Heat Receive: G Kyrie Irving
Brooklyn Nets Receive: F Nikola Jovic, C Dewayne Dedmon, G/F Duncan Robinson, G/F Victor Oladipo, 2023 1st Round Pick
This trade scenario would not be eligible to be completed until Jan. 15 due to the Miami Heat re-signing some of the names included. Whether Kevin Durant is moved or not, the Brooklyn Nets should try to find ways to move Kyrie Irving.
Durant has made it clear that he plans to move on regardless if Irving stays or not, and without the Slim Reaper on board, Brooklyn has no reason to try to retain his mercurial running mate, especially with all of the off-court drama that comes with the electrifying ball-handler.
There aren’t many teams that would be willing to take on Irving’s baggage and even fewer with the kind of assets that the Nets would be looking for in a potential deal. Not only do the Miami Heat have the goods to swing a trade for Irving, but they should be eager to submit an offer.
For one, Jimmy Butler is publicly one of Irving’s closest confidants in the NBA. His relationship with Irving and his infamous work ethic might provide the recipe needed to get Irving to recommit to basketball and produce at a consistently high level.
The Heat’s renowned culture could also play a role in keeping the All-Star guard dedicated to the game and ensuring that he’s bought into Miami’s title chase.
