Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards made a huge commitment to Bradley Beal this offseason. The two sides agreed to a supermax extension, which wasn’t too surprising. But, they are at the mercy of Beal for the duration of the contract as they also gave him a 15 percent trade kicker and a full no-trade clause.
If that relationship sours, they will be handcuffed when trying to negotiate a trade as Beal will have the final say over where he goes. Not only that, the package that the Wizards would receive would be lessened because Beal would receive more money if he is traded.
Knowing that moving him is virtually impossible, the Wizards should focus on upgrading the roster around him. They are one of the teams that have been mentioned as a suitor for Donovan Mitchell and there may not be a team that needs to go all-in more than Washington.
The Wizards are capped out for years to come so they won’t be players in free agency anytime soon. The only way they will be able to upgrade the roster is via trade and a soon-to-be 26-year-old All-Star is a prime target.

Mitchell’s contract is guaranteed for three more seasons before he has a player option. That would essentially lock the Washington Wizards into a Big 3 of Mitchell, Beal and Kristaps Porzingis for that length of that. That is certainly an intriguing core to build your roster around.
Mitchell and Beal are elite offensive players and things will run through them despite neither of them being natural point guards. Porzingis has played an All-Star level previously as well and has turned into one of the best rim protectors in the NBA.
Even if the Wizards offered a combination of their recent draft picks in Rui Hachimura, Deni Avdija, Corey Kispert and Johnny Davis with cap filler such as Will Barton or Kyle Kuzma, Washington would have some solid role players around their Big 3.

Monte Morris, Delon Wright, Daniel Gafford and Taj Gibson remain on the roster. Add one of the aforementioned players from each list to that mix and the Washington Wizards have something going around Beal, Mitchell and Porzingis.
