Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cleveland Cavaliers are a relatively new team that has entered the Donovan Mitchell sweepstakes. They have reportedly touched base with the Utah Jazz about him according to Ian Begley of SNY.
The Cavaliers have a great thing going with the young core that they have put together. They won 44 games last season, the most in a season without LeBron James since the 1997-98 campaign. Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen have already ascended to the All-Star level and Evan Mobley doesn’t look too far behind.
If they could add a player of Mitchell’s caliber, the Cleveland Cavaliers would rise closer to contender status over the perennial playoff team tier that they are trending toward.
Adding a fourth All-Star caliber player to the mix is not something many teams have and all of them being 26 years of age or younger heading into the 2022-23 season is a bonus. They could contend for years if the youngsters continue on their path of development.

At times last season the Cavaliers’ offense went stagnant. Garland was more often than not the sole creator. Pairing him with Mitchell would cause a lot of those issues to disappear as both are elite players with the ball in their hands.
Combining those two in the backcourt may present some issues defensively as they are both 6’1”, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are such a stout defensive team that they should be able to overcome it. The rim protection of Allen and Mobley is more than enough to clean up any messes ahead of them.
