New York Knicks
New York Knicks Receive: G Donovan Mitchell, F Rudy Gay
Utah Jazz Receive: G Evan Fournier, G Derrick Rose, F Cam Reddish, Five First-Round Picks (3 unprotected)
The New York Knicks have the inside track to making a deal with the Utah Jazz because they have the most to offer. The teams are a perfect match asset and direction-wise, but they have both seemingly drawn a line in the sand.
Danny Ainge wants multiple draft picks, a majority of which are unprotected, along with young players or players on team-friendly contracts. Leon Rose can offer that, but how much is he willing to part ways with?
Knowing they have the most to offer Utah, they can play hardball. No one is approaching their all-in offer and the goal is not to even get to that point.
A third team could get involved to take on some of the salary that the Knicks would have to part with, but there is a deal to be made between just the Jazz and Knicks.

This offer is focused more on the draft picks than player return, which is reportedly what Ainge wants. New York sends unprotected picks in 2023, 2024 and 2025 to the Jazz. The last two picks are in 2023 via the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards.
Looking to clear Rudy Gay’s contract, he is heading to New York along with Donovan Mitchell. Derrick Rose is heading to Utah and is essentially an expiring deal as the second season remaining on his deal is a club option. Evan Fournier has two more guaranteed seasons on his contract before a club option for the final season.

Cam Reddish represents the young player New York is willing to part with that Utah is looking for. If they want one of the other prospects, such as RJ Barrett, Quentin Grimes, Immanuel Quickley or Obi Toppin, it will impact the draft compensation.
