Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
Some will immediately observe that rostering Sexton is a questionable choice with Tyler Herro on the roster. Respectfully, we disagree.
Herro may be the Heat’s sixth man, but that doesn’t mean he has to be. This deal would allow the Heat to finally move their young star into the starting lineup.
After all, they’d have a brand new sixth man in tow in Sexton.
For that matter, there’s no reason the two couldn’t co-exist. The Heat may choose to stagger them, but they shouldn’t avoid shared minutes either.
Between the playmaking chops of Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler, the Heat could manage two pure scorers in their backcourt.

All told, this is a talent grab for the Heat. Sexton isn’t a perfect player – he’d have received a contract already if he was. Still, for a team fresh off of a Conference Finals appearance, he could be the missing piece.
