New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans were aggressive at the trade deadline, acquiring CJ McCollum and Larry Nance Jr. from the Portland Trail Blazers. That move helped propel them into a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament, which they made the most of.
New Orleans defeated the San Antonio Spurs and LA Clippers to earn the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. They were defeated there by the No. 1 seed Phoenix Suns but gave them everything they could handle in six games.
All of that was done without Zion Williamson, who missed the entire season recovering from a foot injury. The team still has Brandon Ingram as well as they are one of the up-and-coming teams in the Western Conference. If the New Orleans Pelicans wanted to become even more dangerous, they could target a point guard upgrade in the form of Kyrie Irving.
The New Orleans Pelicans have a lot of useful pieces they could build a trade package around to acquire Irving that the Brooklyn Nets would like to have. Second-year players Herb Jones, Trey Murphy III and Jose Alvarado would all pique Brooklyn’s interest. Jaxson Hayes, Jonas Valanciunas, Devonte’ Graham and Kira Lewis Jr. could also be part of a package.
