Anthony Davis
The Los Angeles Lakers’ future is as cloudy as any team’s in the NBA. They are looking to work out an extension with LeBron James this offseason, but he has his own plans in place for the future as he is going to end his career with whichever team his son is on.
It is a delicate balancing act trying to compete for a championship with James on the roster and keeping an eye toward the future, preparing for life after LeBron. The Lakers haven’t done either exceptionally well, as they have zero playoff series wins outside of the 2020 Orlando Bubble when they won the NBA Championship.
If they want to shake things up and recoup some future assets, while remaining competitive now, trading Anthony Davis is an option. The New York Knicks should have some internet in that as Davis remains one of the best players in the NBA when he can stay healthy.
A two-way force as a go-to option offensively and an elite defender, Davis would be an excellent building block for the Knicks.

Acquiring the first star to build a contender is always the toughest part. New York is hopeful that Barrett can reach that level eventually, but adding Anthony Davis to the mix would give them at least one.
Draft compensation and some established veterans, such as Julius Randle and Evan Fournier, mixed with one of the young players would be a starting spot for negotiations. Cam Reddish is someone the Lakers have been connected to previously that could be of interest from the group of young players New York has compiled.
