Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
In some ways, it’s easier to identify why the Nets wouldn’t do the deal. Michael Porter Jr.’s back will be a concern for any team acquiring him.
At the same time, a look around other deals the Nets are rumored to be entertaining for Durant makes this one appealing. It’s hard to identify another team in a position to offer the Nets two players with star potential.
Perhaps Jaylen Brown is more appealing on his own. Alternatively, maybe OG Anunoby and a much deeper package of first-round picks is a better start to a rebuild. Similarly, a Suns package built around Mikal Bridges and the same could be appealing.
Still, none of those deals offer the Nets two potential stars. There is certainly risk here, given Porter Jr.’s injury history.
