Why The Denver Nuggets Do The Deal
The Nuggets likely wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation to assemble a duo of Nikola Jokic and Kevin Durant. After all, they’d probably be the most talented duo in the NBA.
Imagine the offensive dynamic between these two. Jokic demands a double team on the low block. At the same time, doubling him is always a tremendous risk. As the best passing big man in the history of the sport, he’s generally going to find the open man.
If that open man could potentially be Kevin Durant, the Nuggets should have the most dangerous attack in the league.
Granted, they’ll be lacking depth following this move. Still, they’ll have some support. Bringing Joe Harris over helps. The Nuggets also acquired Kentavious Caldwell-Pope this summer. His 3-and-D skillset should serve the Nuggets’ new dynamic duo well.

Finally, Aaron Gordon is a nice role player that remains on the roster following this deal.
The Nuggets may need to add a piece or two on the buyout market. At the same time, they may not. Regardless, having Jokic and Durant on the same roster will have them in the mix for an NBA championship – no matter what.
