
As a general rule, the team that wins the NBA championship has the least stressful offseason in the NBA. Having walked away from the season with the ultimate prize, they have no incentive to fix anything.
With that said, the defending championships can still benefit from planning ahead. Especially when those champions pride themselves in being “light years ahead” of the rest of the NBA.
Such is the case with the Golden State Warriors. They may have won the 2021-22 NBA title, but don’t assume this organization will rest on its laurels. Furthermore, this team’s core is quickly aging, and perhaps more importantly, it’s getting expensive.
In other words, 2022-23 might be the Warriors’ last kick at the can.

If so, it would behoove this franchise to do everything in their power to repeat as champions. Trading for a player like Myles Turner would certainly accomplish that goal.
