This deal is not directly rumored. Still, if you’re willing to spend some time reading tea leaves, it’s not that difficult to piece together. Both sides could have an incentive to make this swap.

The Boston Celtics allegedly made Jaylen Brown available in negotiations with the Nets for Kevin Durant. That’s understandable – this is Kevin Durant we’re talking about. Apparently, Jaylen Brown may not see it that way.

If Brown really is feeling alienated from the team, it may be best to move him before he’s a free agent in two seasons. This deal nets the Celtics a Brown facsimile in Wiggins, a first-round pick, and a swap.

As for the Warriors, it lands them the best player in the trade. They’re tapping into their draft reserves to make it happen, but they know first-hand how devastating a player Brown can be.
