Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
Identifying a good Kevin Durant trade for the Brooklyn Nets is difficult. Realistically, it doesn’t exist – they’re trading Kevin Durant.
Still, we know the Nets will probably prefer a package that includes proven NBA talent. This deal fits that bill. Anfernee Simons flashed clear star potential in 2021-22. Furthermore, Josh Hart is one of the league’s most underrated role players.
At the same time, they’ll also likely want some future-focused assets in any exchange. This deal hits that mark as well. Shaedon Sharpe’s upside is basically limitless. His athletic tools make him an extremely enticing prospect. Of course, he’s not all the Nets are landing here in terms of the future.
Two first-round picks and two swaps may not be a treasure trove of draft capital. With that said, it’s a solid return when you factor in the inclusion of Simons and Sharpe.

All told, this trade sets the Nets up for the present and the future. Hopefully, it sets them up to avoid an extended run of mediocrity in the process.
