Miami Heat Receive: G Kyrie Irving
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Kyle Lowry, F/C Omer Yurtseven, F Haywood Highsmith, 2023 first-round pick
The only thing missing from the Miami Heat’s roster is a bona fide play finisher, someone who can save an offensive possession at any time by either creating a good look for himself with the shot clock winding down or straight up knocking down a tough one with a defender or two in their face. That obviously describes Kyrie Irving’s greatest strength to a tee.
The only concern here would be Irving’s commitment to the team — and basketball in general. If Jimmy Butler — one of Kai’s known best friends in the league — and the Heat could get Irving to buy into Miami’s culture and competitive basketball overall, they would easily be one of the favorites in the Eastern Conference.
Butler’s slashing and playmaking perfectly balance out Kyrie Irving’s isolation scoring ability and creativity off of the dribble. Pairing them up would almost be a recreation of the LeBron James and Irving tandem in Cleveland, to a much lesser degree of course.
The Brooklyn Nets here shed Kyrie Irving’s drama, replace him with one of the hardest working guards in the league in Kyle Lowry, take fliers on two young prospects, and add an additional first-round pick.
LATEST NBA NEWS AND RUMORS: Here’s How The Miami Heat Could Trade For Kevin Durant
Of course, the end game for Brooklyn in any trade revolves around whether or not it convinces Kevin Durant to stay. If Durant signs off on this deal, it will go a long way to repairing the Nets’ title chances.
