Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal
The Miami Heat will be less concerned with the future than the Hornets this summer. Fresh off of a Conference Finals appearance, they’ll be firmly in win-now mode.
With that in mind, Kyle Lowry’s poor 2021-22 postseason showing is a concern. At 36, it’s hard to say with confidence that he isn’t on the decline. If he is, the Heat should be looking to upgrade their guard rotation.
Adding Terry Rozier accomplishes that goal. He’s not the traditional floor general that Lowry is, but at this point, he’s a much more impactful offensive player. Furthermore, the Heat get ample playmaking in their frontcourt between Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler.
Rozier is no Kevin Durant. For that matter, he’s not even sniffing Donovan Mitchell’s status in the NBA. Still, he’s a high-end scoring guard who would improve Miami’s bottom line in 2022-23.
