Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic are in the midst of another rebuild. A majority of the suitors that have been linked to the Lakers and Russell Westbrook are in a similar position, as they are looking to add future draft capital while moving some contracts.

The Magic could present a similar opportunity. Getting a ton of value for Westbrook will not be easy, but Orlando has some pieces that may intrigue Los Angeles. They have been linked to Terrence Ross in the past, and he would be involved in the deal.

To make the salaries match, the Lakes could target Markelle Fultz and Jonathan Isaac. Both have had injury concerns in the past, but with the influx of young talent on the roster, they may now be expendable.

In 2020 and 2021, the Orlando Magic selected point guards with their first-round picks, landing Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs. Since none are great 3-point shooters, having those two and Fultz doesn’t make for the greatest fit.

LATEST NBA NEWS AND RUMORS: Could Los Angeles Lakers’ Russell Westbrook Situation Last Until Trade Deadline?

Isaac has not played in a game since August 2nd, 2020. He tore his ACL and missed the next two seasons because of it. He has potential, but Orlando selected Paolo Banchero first overall and he could be their power forward of the future.

Adding another injury-prone player to the mix would certainly be risky, but the Lakers have to try something. Getting three rotation players and one of them having a ceiling as high as Isaac’s, would be considered a win.
