Miami Heat Receive: G/F Talen Horton-Tucker, G Kendrick Nunn
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G/F Duncan Robinson
Evaluating players is a vital component of a General Manager’s job. After all, they’ll eventually be responsible for assigning them a value: in other words, paying them.
With that said, it’s no easy task. A player can have a breakout season ahead of a contract extension, secure his bag, and then regress. Typically, it’s not even the player’s fault. They’d surely prefer to be the best player they could be at all times.
Sometimes, the player is a victim of some natural disadvantage. Robinson may be an elite floor-spacer, but slow feet and limited athleticism make him a defensive liability.
Meanwhile, Talen Horton-Tucker has plenty of athletic advantages, but shooting does not seem to come naturally to him. His inability to space the floor was a significant issue for the Lakers in 2021-22.
