The Portland Trail Blazers revamped their roster this offseason after a tough 2021-22 season. Damian Lillard played in only 29 games as he underwent a procedure on his abdomen. With him sidelined, the team bottomed out and traded away numerous key players.
CJ McCollum and Larry Nance Jr. were traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. Norman Powell and Robert Covington were sent to the LA Clippers as the Portland Trail Blazers cleared as much money as possible and compiled some strong assets.
They used that cap space and assets to acquire Jerami Grant in a trade, sign Gary Payton II and re-sign Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic. They also selected Shaedon Sharpe with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft.
It would take some maneuvering, but there is a path to Portland having cap space to be buyers in free agency again in 2023. If that occurs, keep an eye on them as a landing spot for Draymond Green.

Lillard has not been shy when it comes to sharing his adoration for Green, as he has hopes of teaming up together at some point. The opportunity could present itself next summer if the Warriors do not present Green with the kind of contract that he is seeking. As a team looking to contend in the Western Conference, Green would be a nice addition to the Portland Trail Blazers lineup.
