Entering the NBA offseason, the Indiana Pacers were a team that a lot of people had their eyes on. With Herb Simon as owner, the team always tried to be as competitive as possible. Rebuilding is something that the franchise had never done, but ahead of the trade deadline, they embarked on that route.
Domantas Sabonis, Caris LeVert and Torrey Craig were all traded away as the Pacers began building for the future. Tyrese Haliburton and Jalen Smith were two of the highlights from those deals, as they added some draft capital as well.
Many people presumed the Pacers would continue down that path in the offseason and they were correct. Malcolm Brogdon was traded to the Boston Celtics for five players, but the 2023 first-round pick was what Indiana really wanted. They may not be done, either, as there are a few more players they would be open to trading, one of them being Myles Turner.
Turner looked like he would be on the move before the deadline as well, but a foot injury derailed those plans. He ended up missing the remainder of the season, but he could still return some value for Indiana this offseason.
