Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
If the Utah Jazz are looking to bottom out, acquiring OG Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr. might frighten them. After all, they’re both quality NBA players.
That’s exactly what the Jazz wouldn’t want right now.
At the same time, neither is likely to drag Utah to the playoffs. They’re both mainly complementary players. With that in mind, they’re also both young enough to complement Utah’s next franchise player.
Still, the Jazz are mainly interested in the draft capital here. They’re receiving three first-round picks and two swaps. For those who will point out that they received more for Gobert, bear in mind that Anunoby alone is a significantly more impactful player than any that came to Salt Lake City in that deal.
