Having recently signed his rookie contract, Keegan Murray isn’t eligible to be traded until August 1st. Assuming the Jazz can hold out for another week, they ought to be on the phone with Sacramento posthaste.
Granted, most of the picks they’re receiving here are swaps. The Sacramento Kings already have plenty of their own first-round picks outgoing, and the Stepien rule limits them from going consecutive seasons without a selection. This is the closest we have to a workaround.
With that said, Murray should be worth a couple of picks on his own. He looked the part of a future star during Summer League. Yes, we know to take Summer League with a grain of salt. Even still, it’s obvious that Murray has a bright future in this league.

The Sacramento Kings, of course, are not focused on the future. They need to make the playoffs in 2022-23. As it stands, that’s something they haven’t accomplished in an NBA-record 16 years. Murray does look NBA-ready, but he won’t be ready to make the type of contribution that Mitchell can next season.
After all, he’s already a star in this league.
