Atlanta Hawks
Utah Jazz Receive: F/C John Collins, F De’Andre Hunter, C Onyeka Onkongwu, 2023 First-Round Pick (ATL), 2024 First-Round Pick (SAC via ATL), 2029 First-Round Pick (ATL)
Atlanta Hawks Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
Some fans will read this proposal and scratch their heads. After all, the Atlanta Hawks just traded for Dejounte Murray, right? Why would they land a third-star guard?
Gentle reminder: the year is 2022. Positionless basketball is the way forward. Between Mitchell, Murray and Trae Young, the Hawks would have the best guard rotation in the NBA.
Furthermore, Murray’s impressive wingspan and elite point-of-attack defense equip him to play the 3. In that context, the Hawks could play three-guard lineups that had unique viability.
We’re not saying it wouldn’t get messy. It might. Still, the Atlanta Hawks would have options. They could try Murray at the 3 full-time, or bring him off the bench as a super sixth man.

Meanwhile, the Jazz may not get the same draft capital in this deal that they’d hoped for, but they do get a platoon of quality young players. Onkongwu is of particular interest here – he’s flashed major potential during his time in Atlanta.
With that said, Collins is the most established player here. If the Jazz feel he’s too established in light of their new goals, they could aim to flip him by the deadline.
