3 NBA Stars To Monitor Long-Term For Potential Trade

NBA Trade Rumors

In recent years, it has become commonplace for All-Stars to be on the move in the NBA. Signing long-term contracts no longer deter players from requesting trades, either. They are getting their money and then asking to be traded to another team.

Even numerous borderline All-Star players such as CJ McCollum, Jerami Grant and Christian Wood have been traded in recent months. In 2022 alone, we have already seen four All-Star caliber players get dealt.

Two of them were part of the same trade and swapped for each other when James Harden went to the Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons went back to the Brooklyn Nets. In Harden’s case, it was the second time in about a year that he asked to be traded, as he barely lasted 12 months in Brooklyn after they mortgaged their future to acquire him from the Houston Rockets.

This offseason, Dejounte Murray was traded by the San Antonio Spurs to the Atlanta Hawks, while the Utah Jazz traded Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Six unprotected first-round picks, one top-five protected pick and two pick swaps were part of those blockbuster deals.

We could see even bigger trade packages built in the coming weeks. The Jazz are also shopping Donovan Mitchell and the Nets received a trade request from Kevin Durant. Both teams are looking for monster trade packages in return, as the Gobert deal altered the market.

Not counting players already involved in rumors this offseason, who could be the next star on the move? Here are three to keep an eye on as potential trade targets.
