Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal
It’s been reported that the Brooklyn Nets are looking for a massive return in exchange for Kevin Durant. Of course, we don’t need reports to verify that.
After all, this is Kevin Durant we’re talking about.
With that said, it’s also been suggested that they’re not getting the types of offers they’d hope to receive. That also checks out. Again, gutting your entire roster to add Durant is self-defeating. If you don’t have enough pieces left to field a contender around him, there’s no point in adding him.
If the Nets are forced to trade Durant at a discount, this deal might be acceptable. They’re landing two recent lottery picks in Murray and Mitchell along with five first-round picks and/or pick swaps. It won’t help them in the future, but it could end up making them much stronger in the future.
