If Nets fans would be disappointed by this return, they couldn’t be blamed. Rozier and Oubre are both good players, but neither are exactly the type you expect to receive for a former number one pick.

Unfortunately for the Nets, Simmons’ value is at an all-time low. Partly, that’s due to his aforementioned shooting woes. On the other hand, his mental and physical health concerns don’t help his cause either.

Some will protest that Simmons was recently moved, along with draft capital, for James Harden. Fair enough. With that said, Harden, having demanded a trade, was a distressed asset.

If the Nets want to sit on Simmons until another one becomes available, that’s a fair strategy.

On the other hand, if the Nets were eager to move Simmons this summer, it’s hard to imagine they’d get better value than this. Given all of the concerns about Simmons, most NBA front offices will likely be apprehensive about acquiring him at the moment.
