Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal
We already outlined what type of player Cam Reddish is supposed to be. That’s the player the Lakers are hoping to acquire here.
In fairness, they already know that Talen Horton-Tucker is not a good fit for this roster. His 26.9% three-point percentage does James and Westbrook no favors. With such strong primary ball-handlers, the Lakers should target players who at least space the floor in theory.
Of course, we already said the Lakers should hope to move Westbrook, and we stand by it. Still, if they can’t, they’ll need players who complement him.
If they can, the Lakers ought to have learned a lesson from the Westbrook experience: LeBron James is optimized when surrounded by floor-spacers. In other words, Reddish is a better fit for the Lakers whether or not Westbrook is on their roster on opening night.
