Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G/F Tim Hardaway Jr., F Davis Bertans
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Russell Westbrook
The very notion of Luka Doncic and Russell Westbrook may feel outlandish. Here’s a challenge: name a star you do think Westbrook could co-exist with.
Sorry. It wasn’t fair to issue an impossible challenge. Given Westbrook’s current style of play, it’s hard to identify a star whose game he’d compliment.
In other words, Westbrook is going to have to make adjustments to his game no matter where he ends up. He may resist them. That’s understandable: change is hard. Still, he’ll have to embrace it if he hopes to extend his NBA career.
Realistically, a role as a sixth man may suit Westbrook at this stage in his career. It’s no longer viable to have him racking up triple-doubles in the starting lineup, but putting him with the second unit could allow him to continue doing what he’s always done best.
