They’re getting a proven producer in Simons. He flashed enough in 2021-22 to be the centerpiece of his deal. On the other hand, it could be Sharpe’s development that sells this trade for them in retrospect.

Certainly, it’s a risky move for Utah. Other teams will likely offer deals that offer more draft capital, which in turn gives them more control over their future.

Still, if Sharpe hits his ceiling, and Simons even maintains this level of play, nobody will be questioning this deal in hindsight. In that event, the Jazz will have won it.
