New York Knicks Receive: C Richaun Holmes, G Davion Mitchell
Sacramento Kings Receive: G Derrick Rose
The Sacramento Kings haven’t made the playoffs in 16 years. In 2022-23, they’ll be desperate to break that all-time worst streak.
The question for the New York Knicks’ front office is “exactly how desperate?”.
Davion Mitchell flashed plenty of potential in his rookie campaign. He’s a solid ball-handler with a nice bag of crafty finishes around the rim. More significantly, he’s a relentless defender. It’s still safe to assume that Derrick Rose will be more impactful in 2022-23.
Meanwhile, the Knicks may not find a use for Holmes. They just re-signed Mitchell Robinson and acquired Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency. That’s an issue to work out later.

Holmes is talented enough to give either strong competition in practice, and any of the three could be moved at a later date. If the Knicks can capitalize on the Sacramento Kings’ desperation and flip Rose for Mitchell, it’s worth the logjam at center.
