New York Knicks Receive: G Devonte’ Graham, 2024 Second-Round Pick (NOP), 2024 Second-Round Pick (CHI via NOP)
New Orleans Pelicans Receive: G Derrick Rose
If you’re an avid fan of fake trades, this is not the sexiest one you’ll see today. It could still make sense for both sides.
The New Orleans Pelicans could use an upgrade in their point guard rotation. In 2021-22, they used CJ McCollum frequently at the position. He performed well, but he’s still a scorer by trade. The Pels should look to return him to his natural role in 2022-23.
Meanwhile, Rose would be a perfect fit. He’ll space the floor at an elite level for Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram as well as provide some secondary ball-handling.
For the New York Knicks, this trade is just a means to further improve their draft capital. Realistically, Rose has reached a stage of his career where he’s unlikely to fetch an unprotected first-round pick.

Two second-rounders and a marginally younger, marginally worse player at his position feels like a fair deal. It just might not be one that Knicks fans celebrate particularly hard.
