Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal
Without question, there’s a lot of risk here for the Jazz. If there wasn’t, Davis wouldn’t be available.
After all, it wasn’t so long ago that Davis would have had more value than Mitchell. Any swap between the two would have had draft picks going to the team acquiring the latter.
That is no longer the case. Unfortunately, injuries have spoiled the better part of two seasons for Davis. As sad as it is to say, we can’t be sure they won’t ruin the rest of his career.
Hence, the risk on Utah’s part. On the other hand, at 29, Davis still has room to bounce back. If he reached his previous form, the Jazz would be acquiring a better player than Mitchell and draft capital to spare.
