Utah Jazz Receive: F/C Anthony Davis, 2027 First-Round Pick (LAL), 2028 First-Round Pick (Swap – LAL)
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: G Donovan Mitchell
On the subject of predictability, a Donovan Mitchell trade this year wouldn’t shock anybody. In fact, some would argue that the writing has been on the wall for so long that it’s starting to wear off.
The Jazz already made a big splash this summer, shipping Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves for Jarred Vanderbilt, Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley, Walker Kessler, and four first-round picks.
That’s a substantial return. The Jazz have been widely lauded for this deal, and rightfully so. Having said that, it’s not the type of win-now package that looks aimed at appeasing a star such as Mitchell.
The deal doesn’t necessarily spell the end of Mitchell’s tenure in Salt Lake City, but it doesn’t bode well for his time there either.

If the Jazz did trade Mitchell, most would expect them to do so for a massive rebuilding package.
