Charlotte Hornets Receive: C Jakob Poeltl
New York Knicks Receive: F/C P.J. Washington
San Antonio Spurs Receive: F Cam Reddish, 2023 First-Round Pick (DAL via NYK)
Speaking of young players who haven’t lived up to their potential yet, here’s a Cam Reddish trade.
It’s not the only one you’ll find on the internet. Reddish is as frustrating as he is intriguing. He’s got all the tools to be an elite 3-and-D wing with some secondary shot-creation skills. Unfortunately, he has not looked that part yet.
In fact, New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau hardly seemed able to find a use for him in 2022-23. That’s fair, but we’re curious to see how Reddish would look in Gregg Popovich’s system. If the Spurs coaching legend can’t coax some productivity out of the former Duke product, who could?
Meanwhile, the Hornets get their starting center in Poeltl, and the Knicks get a more polished young wing in P.J. Washington.
