This Nets-Suns Trade Sends Ben Simmons To Phoenix

Kevin Durant has requested a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. That might as well be the first sentence in every article written about the NBA from now until his request is fulfilled.

The Phoenix Suns are his preferred destination. That makes sense. A trio of Durant, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul would be one of the best in the NBA in 2022-23.

Through that lens, writing a Nets/Suns swap that doesn’t involve Durant almost feels wrong. On the other hand, it isn’t. Another team could easily win the Durant sweepstakes.

That won’t stop the Nets from making additional moves. They already have a few intriguing low-risk signings in free agency with TJ Warren and Edmond Sumner.
